The ever awesome Introversion Software have done it again! Defcon is a totally addictive game based on the classic Wargames movie. It’s a strategy game with about 5 units and 5 structures. The aim is simple – total obbliteration of the enemy while protecting your own citizens from harm.
A great top tip – on the forums you can get a replacement empty sounds list file, which means you can then delete the 50MB sounds.dat file allowing you to squeeze this addictive game onto a floppy disk or USB drive (not that you can’t fit 50MB onto most USB drives, but if yours is anything like mine it’s already full of other crud =) ).
We take this into the computer rooms at uni late at night and have a couple of 6 way matches running. Great fun! Even more fun when your opponents have had a few in the campus bars already!
I’m looking forward to the linux version coming by November – and like all Introversion software, if you buy one version you can use the other platforms versions too!
