You log on to your banking with the aim of depressing yourself just enough to stop you making an impulse buy and you discover you have less than £50 left on your overdraft.

I’ve been far too lax so far this year and this is the kick in the rear end I need to get my time sorted so I can start finding some work.

On a slightly related note, other than just plain wishing I had got myself a job in the first year, another item for you first years and non-year-in-industry people to think about is summer internships. I knew they did them in the US but never really thought to look over here for them – if you look you can actually find quite a number of businesses doing them, including big ones like IBM.
